Sprinting, distance running, jumping, throwing – there is something for everyone in track and field! Our coaches have the expertise to mentor state champions and athletes wanting to continue track in college, while also helping athletes at all levels, including beginners, to reach personal bests. We pride ourselves on competing at the highest levels while also regularly winning the region and state academic and sportsmanship awards.
- 2025 Highlights:
- Over 120 athletes participated on the West track team
- State champions in boy’s 4x100 (three-time defending state champions), boy’s long jump and girl’s disc, and numerous state podium finishers.
- Multiple athletes signed to compete in college, including at UAA, UAF, and Portland State.
- 2026 Season:
- Signing up for track: as with other sports and activities at West, sign up for track at: studentcentral.bigteams.com
- First practice is March 4, 2026. We understand that some athletes may not be able to come to the first practices for a variety of reasons, including winter sports conflicts.
- Practices will generally be after school at West from 3:30 – 5. For the first month of the season we will have practices 1 – 2 times/week at the Dome in the afternoon or evening (times will vary as all ASD schools share the Dome).
- Meets: Regular season meet schedule to be posted as the season gets closer. Region meet is May 22, 23 and State meet is May 29, 30 (at Dimond).
